300 dpi, the highest resolution on the 6-inch ZT620
The ZT620 300 dpi prints 12 dots per mm within a 168 mm width and is the highest resolution available on the 6-inch ZT620. The 600 dpi head is available only on the 4-inch ZT610.
Speed is 51-203 mm per second (2-8 ips), about one third slower than the 203 dpi version of the same unit (12 ips). This speed loss is worth accepting only when labels need 3.3 mil bars or text under 1 mm high.

Since the first dot position is the same at both resolutions, when moving 203 dpi formats over, leave the left margin alone and reset only the text size and barcode magnification. Printing a barcode rotated 90° thickens the narrowest bar to 3.9 mil.
Continuous print length versus speed
The ZT620 300 dpi prints continuously up to 2,032 mm on continuous media, while the ZT421 300 dpi, in the same 6-inch class, stops at 1,143 mm. On the other hand, the ZT421 300 dpi runs at 254 mm per second, 51 mm faster than the ZT620.
So continuous labels longer than 1,143 mm go on the ZT620 300 dpi, and lines where speed comes first look at the ZT421 300 dpi. The ZT620's memory, 1 GB RAM and 2 GB flash, is 4 times the ZT421 (256 MB and 512 MB).
6-inch media and ribbon combinations
Labels up to 51-180 mm wide including the liner fit, and media cut with the cutter must not exceed 0.18 mm thick. Ribbon is 51-170 mm wide and 450 m long, at a 3:1 ratio of 3 rolls of media per roll of ribbon.
Loading ribbon wider than the label protects the head. Even ribbons narrower than 51 mm, if wider than the label, should be tested first with the media you use. Ribbon types are covered in Thermal transfer ribbon types.
