The Gryphon I GD4200 comes in two corded models with the same reading specifications, differing only in host connection and input voltage. The GD4220 takes 5 VDC and connects by USB only, while the GD4290 takes 4.5-14 VDC input and also supports RS-232, so it connects to POS terminals with a serial port too. Both models read 1D codes only with a CCD linear imager, at up to 400 scans per second.

When using the GD4290 over serial, choose one of RS-232 STD (standard), RS-232 WN (Wincor Nixdorf), or RS-232 OPOS with a setting barcode. The interface selection barcode takes effect after reading just one barcode, without reading an ENTER/EXIT barcode before it.
Motionix operation and stand mounting
On the GD4200 family, the Motionix motion sensor detects handheld movement and turns on the aiming line. When placed in the stand, the scanner detects it is mounted and switches to hands-free scanning mode.
The factory setting is Trigger Single, which reads once each time the trigger is pulled. Setting barcodes change it to Trigger Pulse Multiple, Trigger Hold Multiple, Flashing, Always ON, or Stand Mode.
Mounting accessories are the standard stand STD-G041, the desk and wall holder HLD-G041, and the multipurpose holders 11-0360 (black) and 11-0362 (gray). The overall size in the stand is 21 x 7.5 x 10.9 cm.

The distances in the table are based on reading grade A labels at 20°C under typical ambient lighting, tilted 10°. Even at the same width, shorter barcodes read from farther away, and it reads bar widths as narrow as 3 mil (0.077 mm).
