The G-Series thermal transfer GX430t with a 300 dpi printhead

The GX430t is a 4-inch desktop printer that does both thermal transfer and direct thermal at 300 dpi, with a top speed of 4 ips (101.6 mm/s). Compared with the 203 dpi model on the same body, the GX420t, which reaches 6 ips, its top speed is two thirds. Memory option for loading Korean fonts into the printer

To download Korean fonts to the printer and print them with ZPL or EPL commands, the GX430t must have the factory RTC and full flash memory option. This option adds 64 MB to the standard 4 MB for 68 MB in use, and the same option on units made before July 24, 2009 was 12 MB.

Korean fonts come in 2 separate types, for ZPL (including Johab) and for EPL, and users download them directly to the printer. ZPL Asian fonts must be purchased separately from the printer, while EPL fonts are free from the Zebra website.

Unicode fonts print only with ZPL, not EPL. Multilingual fonts such as MS Arial Unicode (23 MB) or Zebra Andale (22 MB) do not fit on units made before July 24, 2009 with the 12 MB option.

RTC date printing and the 3 V lithium battery

The RTC (real-time clock) included in the same option lets labels print today's date and time, and dates shifted forward or back, without a PC. The command that sets the time applies to both ZPL and EPL, while date display formats work separately in the two languages.

The RTC module contains a 3 V lithium battery. If the printed date always comes out later than the actual date, the battery is weak; replacement is not done by the user but by a service technician with a Zebra-approved battery, so leave battery checks to the Wooju OA service center in Korea.

The ZD621t, faster at 300 dpi 6 ips

The GX430t's Asia-Pacific end of sale date is December 31, 2021, and January 31, 2022 for other regions. The service and support deadline for Asia-Pacific, February 28, 2025, was also two months earlier than other regions (April 30).

The designated successor, the ZD621t, prints up to 6 ips (152.4 mm/s) at 300 dpi, 1.5 times faster than the GX430t, and with 512 MB of flash memory there is no need to order a separate memory option to load fonts. GX430t drivers are on the GX430t download page.

How do I know if a GX430t has the RTC and flash option?

Hold FEED, release at the first flash to print a configuration label, and look for an OPTION MEMORY line. On units without the option, this line (B: drive) does not print.

What is the difference between the GX430t and GX430d?

Both are 300 dpi, 4 ips models. The GX430t also prints thermal transfer with a ribbon loaded, while the GX430d has no ribbon mechanism and uses direct thermal media only.

How many Korean fonts can be loaded?

There is no set number; it depends on the remaining capacity after subtracting the flash space already in use and the size of the font files downloaded. Even on a 68 MB option unit, fewer fit if many logos and formats are stored.
