The ZD621d is the ZD621 direct thermal model that prints on direct thermal media without a ribbon, at up to 203 mm/s (8 ips) at 203 dpi. Ethernet, RS-232 serial, USB 2.0, and USB Host are all standard, so it connects to the network from the start and is shared by several PCs.
Media width is 15-108 mm and thickness 0.08-0.19 mm, and the body measures 221 x 177 x 151 mm and weighs 1.6 kg.
When to choose the ZD621d instead of the ZD421d
The two models share the same 108 mm media width, but the top speed at 203 dpi is 203 mm/s on the ZD621d and 152 mm/s on the ZD421d, a difference of 51 mm/s.
The ZD421d adds Ethernet and serial later as modules, while the ZD621d has both built into the unit. The ZD621d weighs 250 g more. For places where 152 mm/s is enough and only USB is used, the ZD421 is the right fit.
ZeroLiner linerless model
The ZD621 has a linerless model dedicated to Zebra ZeroLiner labels without release liner, and up to 50% more labels fit per roll, reducing roll changes. The linerless model is direct thermal only and prints without a ribbon like the ZD621d, in 2 versions: cutter and tear-off.
Open the packaging of linerless rolls just before putting them in the printer, and do not store them lying on their side. Clean the head at every roll change, and remove adhesive residue on the platen roller and media path by lightly touching it with the adhesive side of a linerless label.
Locking model for hospitals
Among the ZD621 direct thermal healthcare models, the locking version has a metal lock on the media compartment with 2 keys, a Kensington lock slot on the back, and a sealed media window. So media cannot be fed out by hand while locked, the FEED button starts in a disabled state each time the power is turned on.
The locking version accepts only roll media placed inside the unit, so it does not suit wards that use fanfold media.
Battery and carrying case
With a 2750 mAh battery on the optional battery base, it prints for one shift at top speed, and the cutter and peeler can still be used. The shoulder-strap carrying case that holds the printer and battery together is exclusive to the ZD621 in the ZD600 series, and it does not fit with a cutter or peeler attached.
