When the 6-inch ZT420 was discontinued
Production of the ZT420, a 6-inch industrial printer with a 168 mm print width, ended on October 1, 2020. Zebra service and support in the Asia-Pacific region also ended on December 1, 2025, and the successor model designated by the manufacturer is the ZT421.

Label and ribbon specifications wider than 4-inch models
The ZT420 accepts labels from 51 mm wide up to 178 mm in tear-off and cutter modes and 171 mm in peel and rewind modes. Its 4-inch sibling, the ZT410, went up to 114 mm, so this is 64 mm wider. Notch and hole positions can be up to 90 mm from the inner edge of the media.
Ribbons are 51-174 mm wide, up to 450 m long, on a 25 mm core. Load a ribbon as wide as or wider than the label being printed to prevent printhead wear.

600 dpi is not available on the ZT420. The printer is 335 mm wide and weighs 18 kg, and its power consumption on the PAUSE test print is 220 W, nearly twice that of the ZT410 (118.7 W).

The label and ribbon specifications are the same, so your existing supplies carry over to the ZT421 as they are. If you print at 300 dpi, the ZT421 is 51 mm per second faster.
