4-inch wide rugged receipt printer
With a dummy pack fitted in the battery compartment, the ZQ520 runs on vehicle power alone without a battery. It is a 4-inch model made to print invoices and delivery receipts on media up to 113 mm wide right in transport and logistics vehicles, and the successor model designated by Zebra is the ZQ521.
Running on vehicle power without a battery
This dummy pack is called a battery eliminator, and it connects the printer directly to vehicle power. There is no need to replace batteries as consumables, and combined with the dedicated vehicle cradle, the printer runs on vehicle power and can be detached on its own when needed.
For configurations that use a battery, choose a 12-24 V or 15-60 V vehicle charger. The vehicle cradle is rated IP43 and mounts on a RAM mounting arm. In vehicles that already have an RW420 cradle installed, the 6-inch RW420 cradle adapter lets you move over without new wiring.
Speed adjustment for cold and high-density printing
The top speed of 127 mm/s applies at a print density of 12% or less, and linerless media is 76.2 mm/s at 16% density. When battery charge is low or battery condition is poor, in cold places, or when printing layouts with large black areas, the printer lowers speed on its own and keeps printing. The sound and speed change, but print quality is maintained.
Receipt layout margins
On black mark receipts, leave 1.59 mm from both edges of the media and from the black mark clear as a no-print zone. Black marks are printed at the center of the roll, at least 12.7 mm wide and 2.4-11 mm long.
