Feed opening width and shred size by media
The top of the KS-13230MSN has feed openings of 230 mm for paper, 40 mm for USB drives, and 90 mm for laptop hard disks. CDs are inserted upright into a separate slot behind the paper feed opening.

Compartments in the 98 L waste bin
Waste capacity is divided into 98 L for paper, 10 L for USB, and 10 L for laptop HDD. The 98 L waste bin is divided by partitions inside, so document chips and hard disk chips pile up separately.
Overload lamps and sensor-related functions
At the top of the control panel is a row of lamps showing the shredding load in 3 ranges: appropriate, normal, and overload. With the auto lamp lit, inserting A4 paper is detected by the sensor and it runs, stopping when finished.
The sensor sensitivity recovery function (Korean patent No. 0591078), which restores sensor sensitivity when it drops, operates when the stop button is held for about 7 seconds, when the power is turned on, and when the motor has run for 5 minutes. Pressing the reverse button during shredding pulls the document out in reverse, and holding it for about 6 seconds switches to cleaning, which shakes out debris between the cutters.
Body and drive
The unit measures 600 x 500 x 940 mm, weighs 110 kg, and uses 400 W on 220 V/60 Hz power. Motor power is delivered to the cutters by metal gears, not a chain.
The cutting unit has received Korean New Excellent Technology (NET) certification No. 0462 and Korean patent No. 10-0986620, and the unit's KC certification number is XD100001-14014I. The self-diagnosis function carries Korean patent No. 0560339.
Conditions of the hard disk recovery test
Daejin Kostal sent shredded hard disk platters to Myung Information Technology and the Korea Advanced Nano Fab Center and received certificates from both that the data could not be recovered. The test disk listed in Myung Information Technology's work report is a 3.5-inch HDD. It is not a test result for the laptop hard disks the KS-13230MSN accepts.
